This is probably something that has been solved already but being a newbie I thought I'd pose the question. Is it possible to have a consistant menu across multiple portals that will update automatically when new pages are created in any of the child portals.

For instance, I have a parent portal that we can call company, and several children portals for different departments such as marketing, HR, and payroll.
So in a vertical layout it might look something like this:
Home (Default.aspx for parent)
Marketing (Default.aspx for Marketing)
Page 1(Page 1 on Marketing Portal)
HR (Default.aspx for HR)
Page 1(Page 1 on HR Portal)
    Page 2(Page 2 on HRPortal)
SubPage (child page of Page 2 on HR Portal)
Payroll (Default.aspx for Payroll)
Page 1(Page 1 on Payroll Portal)

So basically if the admin of the Payroll Portal adds a new page, I need it so the admins of the other portals don't have to manually add a link for the new page.

Can this be done?

I'm not DNN expert (trust me!), but I don't think this is possible since you are crossing portals.  I think most people's solution is to provide one link to each portal from the parent.  If each portal has the exact same look and feel, you could probably get away with it using clever implementation of Inventua's Side or Top Menu module, but you wouldn't ever have the ability to see other portal pages ...you'd have to navigate to that portal to see its pages.

The more I look into it, the more I believe you might be correct.
I'd love to hear from some of the experts to see if they can shed some light on this subject.
