Hello

I am in the slow process of building a site on line and it is taking me ages. Basically because I have found that internal (host) links such as, add page, edit module, update page, module settings, move or delete module etc. is painfully slow, it takes forever for actions to transpire.

The skin and containers have been created using css only, with a bare minimum background image in the skin.

The majority of tabs contain no images at all and so far very few modules with very little content. As yet I have not added images except for a few pages which only contain some thumbnails.

I have registered the site with host-tracker, I have enabled  http pageblaster compression, I have used shorthand on my css stylesheet and removed white spaces from skin and css file.

My site is DNN 4.3.5 what more can I do to gain some speed, it is so exasperating watching the progress bar dawdling along at a snails pace, just to update a page containing one line of text?  I can't understand why it should take so long, or what it is waiting for, Christmas?

Thanks

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

How many modules do you have on the page?  Does it take longer and longer as you add more modules?  On thing to try is consolidating your modules.  If you are using an Image module, maybe you can display that same image to an html module where you are displaying html.

I know these aren't the best tips, but the performance on editing is currently being improved for DNN4.4 so you may get some relief (maybe even before Christmas!).

One other thing, if you are interested in testing, I have been thinking about making PageBlaster cache for the admin role.  I think this will help dramatically.

Hi John

Thanks for the reply and infomation. I will try your suggestion of consoldating modules where I can, at the moment I only have approx four modules on the page, so it is not excessive.

I would be interested in trying your admin PageBlaster cache, tell me more, do you have a link to it yet?

Thanks

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

I haven't added that enhancement yet, but if you want to contact me through the e-mail in my profile then we can work it out.
