OK,
I have not seen anyone talk about his yet.  I think I know why.  No one is synchronizing users from an external database “YET”.  I am working with DNNMasters on a User Sync Manager (USM) and I have some users in the remote DB that the client does not have their email as of yet.  We would like to collect it the first time they log in.  I know if I have other profile fields missing that are required it will prompt the user.

My problem is that this deals with the core fields.  Can someone tell me how this can be done?

This is an exciting new way to expand DNN.  We look to roll out our site with this in the next few weeks.  We have in excess of 300,000 members 2,000 educational institutes.  And now we will be able to use DNN as out web interface.

We are just looking for a way to make sure to get the email address (if it is empty).  Post here if you also have some interest in being able to synchronize remote users?

Thank
Rick

PING!

Does anyone have any kind of answer for this?  We are going live on Jan 2nd and I need to know how I can throw up in there face "WE Need your Emails Address!"

Thanks
Rick

Wow,

This is rough, I wish someone knew some way to make this work.  I have over 25,000 accounts we imported that do not have an email entered.  Is there no way I can force them to enter it before they can do anything else?

I'm in the same boat as we are moving our portal to DNN and many customers do not have email as their companies do not permit the use of email or the users just don't have one or refuse to give it.

This can totally be done very easily by just having the email profile property be "Required". When the user logs in they will be tossed to the appropriate screen to edit their email address and profile. Give it a try, should be simple if I'm understanding you correctly.
