Hi, I am very much worried about tuning my website's performance. I've just read an article by Shaun Walker with the following comment: "One solution we implemented in DotNetNuke 4.4.0 is a new "light weight" install model. Basically, DotNetNuke will only install a few basic modules by default. The other modules will exist in the /Install/Module folder ( with a different file extension ) and can be optionally installed through the Host / Module Definitions interface. The result is that you only need to install the modules which you need for your site - and the other modules will not unnecessarily contribute to your memory footprint."

My install is 4.3.4, so it has several unused modules installed, including store, contacts and a whole set of them. Actually, I use more third party modules than the core ones. Can I uninstall unused core modules without fear of having application problems? And would that result in performance improvement?

Yes, you can remove any modules that you are not using.  It will improve performance a little but DNN 4.4 has much better improvements than that one.
