Hello,

I am starting my website, and I have questions related to URL... I am very active in various video forums (non linear editing software), and my current website (not DNN) is often referenced in the forum by people visiting it. So, one of the most important concept of my website is URL. I need "friendly url", so people can easily remind them (and make copy-paste of URL of interest).

When a visitor surf my new DNN website and goes to the page related to DNN, he is facing a long URL: http://declic-video-fx.com/DNN/tabid/55/Default.aspx
That's why I have introduced friendly URL to have something shorter: http://declic-video-fx.com/dnn.aspx

But of course, if the user surf my website from the home page, he will arrive on this weird URL and he may copy-paste this weird URL in the forum. To avoid this, I have thought of the following:
Making tabs with links to pages on my website. It means that the menu are only links to pages of my website. These pages does ot appear on the menu, just called through the menu. This way, I can use as many friendly url I want, people will never noticed the strange URL...

Is it a good idea ?? In particular, concerning SEO and indexing content by search engine ?? What does specialist think about this ? Because if I start this way, it will be very difficult to switch back.

Take a look at PageBlaster www.snapsis.com. It allows you to set any tab to any Virtual Path of your choice.

Ok, I have looked at it. But it seems to have problem between the new DNN 4.4.0 and Blaster, isn't it ?
And is it compatible with Apollo PageLocalisation module ?? Because my portal is in 2 langages...

hmm.. afaik any url rewriter utility is compatible with any form of tab localization, as long as you keep in mind that you put a language parameter in the url somewhere... remember.. all that is needed for PageLocalization to work is a correct culture setting for the page. That is something the core takes care of
