Can someone explain the difference between Available & Installed Modules? The reason I ask is that all Available modules (with the option to install) show up under installed modules.

To speed up the installation process, and to deploy the minimal amount of common modules, the way installations are done was changed.

What this resulted in is a much faster install, and choices for the portal owner to decide whether they really want some of the other features. Many of us remove these modules prior to installing for our clients, but for speed and ease for newcomers, you can, when the portal is initially deployed, simply add those extra modules as required.

This has been a really good feature for the new DotNetNuke build in my opinion.  So if there is something in the core module range you want to add, then you just click the checkbox and it will install automatically for you.

If a module is already installed should it still be shown as available to install?

it could. The available modules procedure just looks in the install directory, and shows all files with extension .resources

Yes, my installation was showing this - it was a little confusing as I had to manually check all the versions and see what was actually missing - it would be nice if this could be done automatically.
