Having a real problem setting up DNN using remote UNC share. ASP errors galore and I can't find much help on what are the correct settings.

The machines are on a Domain 2003.

I have a share on a remote file server, full control to the created user and to the webserver machine.

The virtual directory has the created user listed as the static user to access the remote UNC.

The temporary asp.net files have the created user listed with modify permissions.

NO GO!

Error is;

Security Exception;

Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

I don't know much about web farm but this error happens when user do not have correct rights. This is usually when asp user from one machine try to get files on other. Asp user (user is usually ASPNET) is not domain user and because of that does not have any rights on other machine (nor a username - user ASPNET on other machine is complete different user with same name). Probably there is already technique that can handle this situation. Workaround is that you can set user rights pragmatically, but I believe there exists some simple way - for example: try and set appropriate rights to everyone...

Did you ever solve your problem?  I am getting the exact same error and am wondering what you did to resolve your issue.

Thanks

I have found it easier to create identical local users on each machine (same username and password), then assign that user account as the Anonymous web user.
