The timezones in DotNetNuke are confusing me.

As far as I can tell - and please correct me if I'm wrong - the DNN installation has no configurable timezone, and takes on the timezone of the server it's installed on (T1). Each portal/site then has a configurable timezone ('Admin' menu -> 'Site Settings'), however this timezone (T2) is based on T1, and not on an external source. This means that T2 cannot be correct unless one either has their DNN istalltion on a server in London (UTC 0), or has done some weird math that results in tricking the portal/site into displaying your current timezone.

The issue is further compounded by the user specific timezones (T3), which I assume are also calculated based on T1...

If anyone can help me out here, that'd be tops. I hope I'm just missing something simple =).

Cheers,
tristan.

AFAIR, the missing setting for T1 has been logged as issue in DNN issue tracker at support.dotnetnuke.com

Any update on this issue...

Considering that hosting  services is usually out of your timezone (and not UTC 0) the solution is painful without a standar approach. In my case, my hosting is in US (PST) and most of my users are from Latin America (with different timezones)

Regards,Alfonso
