I use page icons to do stuff like this, it works great, and it's not hardcoded.
Include: ShowPageIcons="True" in your Housemenu def. in the skin and just add images as a page icon.

Hi Timo

Where do you add the images as page icons? In the settings for the house menu i've checked the Page Icons checkbox.  Does this method allow you to use rollovers as well?

If you pick up the free skin in my site and study the menu section of the skin.css, you will see how the background image is added there.

You do set them not in housmenu but with the (advanced) page settings for the page.
Mouseovers: yes read my post here
Hope it's clear....

By the way...  are you using the skin object or the module?

Timo method sounds cool. I must try it sometime

Unpack the zip file on your hard drive ant the skin zip is in the folder you will find crystalS.zip and unpack that one and check the css.
