You mean change the image with css?
That's not possible you can only change a background image with css.
If you want to set width etc, you would have to add a class to the image and reference that in you css.

For the example in my previous post:
<img class="myimage" src="<%=PortalSettings.HomeDirectory%>images/myimage.gif">

CSS:
.
myimage{
    width:100px;
    height:50px;
}

No, I was referring to a background image. Some of us use those in our CSS designs. And if we did wish to use them, how would we use your method to specify the path in the url( )? Assuming it was a separate CSS file not an inline stylesheet.

Okay, for background-images the problem is that in the skin something like <%=skinpath%> gets processed, in the CSS files it doesn't. So you cannot use the discussed options in an external CSS file.
You have to use inline styles like this:

<div style="background-image:url(<%=PortalSettings.HomeDirectory%>images/myimage.gif)">

Is that what your looking for?

You could reference it with a relative path from the skin to the portal's folder if you were willing to "hard-code" the home directory into your css file.
No mater what the skin is, it is always in the same place in relation to the portal's home folder.

Otherwise you need to put your shared images in a static place like I outlined earlier.
