In the past, there was a setting to "hide container heading", or something like that...

Is that gone in DNN 4.x? Do I have make a new container that omits the header?

Are you possibly referring to the "hide container" option?  That hides the header when in view mode (admin mode the container is visible).

I have a question that releates to this....

If you hide the container for a module which is in Module settings/Page Settings sub category, how do you then edit the module when the container has gone and the edit options with it?

Hiding it is only in preview mode not in edit mode
