Has anyone tried developing DNN skins with EXpression Web?  It has much more is the way of support for slick designs than VWD, but I never see it mentioned as an option.

may its because it is rather new. In fact, you can use any web design program (even famous "visual" notepad) to create DNN skins.

I have not heard any reports of using it, but as mentioned above you can use anything to create the skins.

I personally have used Visual Studio, Notepad, and Dreamweaver for creating/modifying skins....

I'm using it, and have found that it works fairly well. Here are some observations:

  1. The CSS support is odd I think, and lacking some important features like a good preview. It's really easy to end of with css all over the place <span>, and css in the <head> section
  2. I did find that you can attach your skin.css to a page and work with it like that, but you'll still need to change the src url once you're ready to move it to a remote server.
  3. I would really like the option to switch to a simple notepad like interface wtihout any formating by the editor, so that I can create clean snippets of code.
  4. I haven't taken the time to try and use the "Site" and ftp options yet, if I ever get around to it, it might be possible to administer much of a remote dnn install from the comfort of Expression Web.
  5. The side panes don't flyout! How can this be. Honestly what an oversite - or feature cut.
