As far as I understand you are supposed to write [CONTENTPANE] as a placeholder where you want your content to be placed, and if you want more then one content pane you write [CONTENTPANE:X] where X is a unique number for each content pane. But in the html-skin you get when you create a new skin with the starter kit (4.0.2) there is no [CONTENTPANE] but still it still seams to work. Why is there an ID specified for the td-tags that the starter kit uses as content panes?

Is there another way to do content panes then writing [CONTENTPANE] in a html-skin?

This is what the table defining the different content part look like in the starter kits default skin

<TABLE cellspacing="3" cellpadding="3" width="100%" border="0">
  <TR>
    <TD colspan="3" id="TopPane" runat="server" valign="top">  </TR>
  <TR valign="top">
    <TD id="LeftPane" runat="server" valign="top">    <TD id="ContentPane" runat="server" valign="top">    <TD id="RightPane" runat="server" valign="top">  </TR>
  <TR>
    <TD colspan="3" id="BottomPane" runat="server" valign="top">  </TR>
</TABLE>

try using these DIV tags instead of [CONTENTPANE]

<div id="ContentPane" runat="server"></div>

that works for me and im using 4.0.2 starter kit

if you want additional panes change the id tag to whatever you want it called eg.

<div id="OtherPane" runat="server"></div>

let me know how you go! Im also new to Skinning and containers so if you have other tips i'd love to hear them

I'm new to module Dev and I just installed the starterkit for 4.0.2 However, now that its installed where can I find the DNN C# module  template within VS.NET 2005?  It does not appear in the  templates  window.

Thanks,
Dan

hmm.. that question seems a bit off topic here.. anyway, I don't there is a C# template yet.. right now you have 2 choices... stick with dnn 4.0 and learn VB.Net, or switch to DNN 3.2 and use one of the available C# templating solutions for DNN 3.x

cheers,

I've got the same question and I see there was no real answer yet.  Additionally, I read the skinning doc and saw no true explanation either....  Are there KEY words that can be used to identify a pane instead of just CONTENTPANE:XXX ?

It looks like TopPane, LeftPane, RightPane, and BottomPane all work....?
