I have a "default" skin style, Content Pane, Left, Top, etc.  When I switch skins to a different skin, one with more panes, the new skin shows up with only a content and banner pane.  None of the other panes are available to add modules to.  The skin is a "professional" skin and the .css file includes all of the needed panes.  Even after I apply the skin and try to add a new page, thinking the new empty page would pick up the new skin .css, it also only has 2 panes.  The logo placement, Login/Register, date time, breadcrumb, etc. are all located where the new skin places them, the only things missing are all of the other panes!  I have tried to contact the skin maker but my email keeps returning as undeliverable.  (Not a fly by night! - just think I am having a problem with his email)

If one is using two different skins then you do need to carry naming convension on contentpane naming and positioning from skin to skin. Probably there is nothing wrong with either of the skins.

you could go in the HTML/ASCX files anc change the names of panes so if for example you have a leftpane in one skin that is on the left pf contentpane, and in the other one is on the left of Middlepane, then this will cause the content to be misplaced. if the position and names are the same in both skins, then you will not find see your issue

I think I phrased it incorrectly - I'm not using 2 different skins at the same time on the site.  The site has a "default" skin with the only change from true default being a red color scheme instead of the blue skin.  I purchased a new skin package and installed it.  When I apply the new skin instead of the default skin, it doesn't work. I do get part of the new skin...the menu works, the colors are correct, and the new skin has a "banner" pane, which is there.  The the other 10 panes (except for content) are not in the drop down box for me to select from when installing a new module.  In other words, after applying the skin, I only have Content and Banner as the choices for adding a new module into.  I shouldn't have to edit the skin files to make them work.  As stated in the initial question, I added a new page just to see if that would have any effect on the page layout but it also had on 2 panes available.

OK

Are there more skin types showing up when you add a skin to a page.

Are you sure the skin type you are adding to the page is the one with 10 panes?

if you examin the HTML/ASCX file of the skin type in questions, you should see the 10 content panes, each with a different name. If you dont then something is wrong with the skin

I haven't looked at the ascx file yet - the .css file does show the 12 panes.  I have only 3 skins on the site - the 2 default skins and the new one I added.  All three skins show up when I select a skin, and the new skin does partially work, i.e. the menu changes to the new look, the breadcrumb & date/time move to their new location, etc.  The ONLY thing not working is the 12 panes, I only get the content pane, and the banner pane, which is a part of the new skin. I am really baffled on this one! I have purchased a skin from this person in the past and it worked beautifully!  In fact, I had the space for another website so I created a completely new DotNetNuke install on it and applied the new skin to it and it also didn't show up correctly either.  I am going to look at the html (ascx) file and see what it shows; it may just need a tweak in it. I'll post back if I find something missing in the file and can fix it. Thanks
