Hello,

I am new to skinning in DNN and have come across problems with skinning the menu. First of all what shall I name the menu in my .html-file? In dnn-blue it is called [NAV] but in some example-skins and tutorials there is [SOLPARTMENU] and [MENU].

Then there is this skin.xml file with endless options, is there any good explanation to all different settings in there? I know there is a complete reference in the DNN-documentation but it would be nice to have some examples connected to them.

What I really want to do is to create a horizontal menu with a hovering effect which has a image as background.

Thanks in advance,

Tobias

My understanding is that [NAV] is the newest version of the menu, and the others are older versions that still work.

Personally the best way is to just look at other skins out there.  Also, for image menus, you might look at the CSS NavMenu by Snapsis as it makes it easy, and comes loaded with examples.

Thanks for your answer. I found out that changing my skin object from [NAV] to [SOLPARTMENU] solved the problem I had. Still though, a little more information about the [NAV] would be nice for future development.

Best Regards,

Tobias
