As an example, this worked for me:

<div class="headerimages" style="background: #f5f5f9 url(<%=skinpath%>/images/algemeen/<%= Int((3 - 1 + 1) * Rnd + 1)%>.jpg) no-repeat scroll top left;" ></div>

I suggest you try to seperate the skinpath and portal settingstabname directives.

Peter

and what do You mean by seperate Skinpath and portal settingstabname directive?

I just tried your code example from your first post, and it worked perfectly. There must be something wrong with your image - perhaps a wrong file name, or it's in the wrong directory? What happens if you leave out the "PortalSettings.ActiveTab.TabName" part and hard code the image name instead?

[EDIT:]
However, if your tab name includes blanks, you must enclose the url property of your background definition with single quotes. in your case:
style="background:url('<%= SkinPath & PortalSettings.ActiveTab.TabName %>BG.gif)' (I highlighted the quotes with a green background - hope you can see it!).

Also, there might be problems if your tab name contains special (non-ASCII) characters.
