I'm at my witt's end and I'm running out of hair to pull out trying to get Internet Explorer to behave!  I've got Firefox to render a new CSS-only skin exactly like I want it to, and I've got IE almost there.  The last few items that I have left to work out of IE are driving me nuts!  Here's a link to the live site: http://www.fbatista.com

I've worked out all the layout-related differences with the Doctype set to:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Unfortunately, this causes IE to ignore some styles and apply unexpected styles to my SolPartMenu.  For example, link colors and UL padding settings are different with the doctype set than without.  If I remove the DocType entirely, the link colors get fixed and the menu behaves closer to how it should (but not exactly - strange white border when hovering over items), but the box model issues mess up the layout.  I can't figure out how to get IE to behave.  See below for a comparison:

Firefox: (How it's supposed to be)

Misbehaving IE:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was having problems between IE and Firefox with: I wonder how we can just remove this tag from DNN all together? IE seems to ignore things when this doctype is present, which I guess makes sense, but causes me grief since Mozilla browsers seem to ignore it.

monarad, what did you have problems with?  The editor ate the tag you typed.

Update on my end: I ended up removing the doctype declaration altogether.  This fixed most menu issues and the rest of the formatting bugs.  I had to insert a new div to separate padding from size in order to avoid the box model issues in IE.  The only thing left is the strange highlight that is added to the menu in IE.

I just realized you can add a skinname.doctype.xml file. This way you can output which doctype you want to use.
