I've just about had it when trying to design this site. No matter what I do, IE7 and Firefox display top and bottom margins and padding completely different from each other. Most of the time, top and bottom changes don't even show up in Firefox.

I can't even get a <p> tag to zero out by setting margin and padding to 0.

Has anyone else run into this problem in their containers? I honestly can't get anything done.

Here's the page in question: www.cobo.awecomm.com
I can't get the content in the container on the left change its left margin. It seems as though something else is overwriting it but I have no idea what.

Can't see any obvious mistakes - there's a margin of 18px on the left and no padding from the p rule in the BasicCon.css for the text in the left hand container.

Get the IE developer toolbar or Firebug for Firefox to see the applied styles and edit your css interactively in the browser. It makes this sort of thing so much easier!

I'm not able to see the page...  Can you link to it again?

Ok, I've fixed it but I honestly don't know how.

The problem lies somewhere in the <p> tag. Every change I was making to the <p> tag was being ignored EXCEPT when I added padding or margins to it, but not when I removed it. I deleted my left pane html module and re-added it, then I zeroed out the <p> tag in my skin's css file and made all of changes to the <p> tag in the container css file.

Could this have something to do with the order in which the css styles are read? Even so, I would have figured the container would've been read last.

"I'm not able to see the page...  Can you link to it again?"
