I am using the default DNN 4 skin, which has the content centered within the page (about 800px) and then some border on either side.  Much like DotNetNuke.com itself.  What I'd like to do is put a repeating background image on the left and right sides of the 800px wide content.  I tried using the "Body Background" setting and uploaded and set a file, which worked, but once the page fully loads the sides go back to solid white.  But every time I refresh the page I can see the background is there, but quickly gets covered up by the white.  What else can I try?  I played around with the CSS file but wasn't able to get it to work.  Help!

Assuming you are using something like the DNN-Blue skin, try editing the .skinmaster class in the CSS file by adding this:

 background-image: url(yourimage.jpg);

Best regards,

In the DotNetNuke standard CSS format has two classes that will affect the background image behaviour.

Sam is partially correct in saying to look for the skinmaster class, but that is actually the class that has the border around it and will changed the background color of the 800 x 600 area.

The .pagemaster class is another table - which you need to change the background that is visible.

The default skins are managed by tables and the pagemaster class - determines the background color so that even if you set the body background using the body classes options, the fact you have a white background in the .pagemaster class - it will override it.

So look for the pagemaster class in the skin file it's the first one, and change that setting.

Hope this helps.

so what do you do if neither of those classes exist in your CSS file?
