I would like to use two instances a menu control, one to show the root options, and the other the children of the active page's parent.

Does anyone know how to do this?

If this is not possible with the menu control, maybe there is another option to implement this? The top menu should show the parent items, e.g. home about us products.

If a user click about us, the left menu should show its children from this parent menu. Also about us should be styled as the active menu.

thanks

There are a couple of free child links modules that you could use to that might do what you want.  They'll show, in a module, all of the links on that page and below.

In fact, I think I had a skin made up a couple of years ago that had it imbedded in the page like that, using CSS.   I'll have to see if I still have a copy of that.

Otherwise, you CAN do two-line horizontal CSS menus, where the bottom line changes with the child menus of the current page.  I've been meaning to sit down for a few hours and figure out how to do that using the HouseMenu, but haven't gotten the time to do that yet with the holidays coming up on us fast.

Where would I get this module?

I don't exactly understand what you mean with two-line horizontal CSS menus.

The problem that will arise with the module (i think), is how to highlight the active menu item.

thanks

Well, two that I can think of off the top of my head are the HouseMenu (www.houseofnuke.com) and SixxacMenu (www.sixxac.com).

As for imbedding, I did this with one of my skins:

<td class="menupane" runat="server" id="MenuPane" valign=top align=left>[LINKS:1]<hr>
  [LINKS:2]
 </td>

I did run across a really neat implentation of a two-line menu at www.polycom.com (not a DNN site), to give you an idea of what I'd like to do.
