Hi,

I have a vexing problem. Look at this site here www.mofga.org, using Firefox. The first load for me after clearing the FF cache always shoots the page out way wide. A reload tightens it up to where it is supposed to be. This is not the case for IE. It happens on a Mac or PC like that should matter.

I have written the skin developer twice and her solution has not worked:

To fix the menu rendering bug you need to add the parameter rootmenuitemrighthtml="</td><td>"
to the <dnn:SOLPARTMENU runat="server

I also tried setting the skin to a fixed width from 100% and that does not work either.

The skin is here http://preview.dotnetnukeskin.com/l01v1/FullWidthSkins/HomeSkinFullWidth/tabid/3483/Default.aspx

Thanks for any help,

Will Sugg

The problem with developing skins using MS tools like VWD is that, everything looks great and behaves correctly in IE, and you get those wierd problems in other browsers.  I can't quite understand what the problem is.  The page looks pretty good in both browsers for me.

I'm assuming though, part of the problem is your doctype.  Your still using the old default one, rather than declairing it yourself.

I declaire it using the recommended method supported by DNN, additionally though, when working on a skin in VWD, I'll put a temp declairation in the top of the file I'm working on.  it changes the behavior of VWD even, so that what you see there you see in most broswers similarly.

The discussion on doctype is in this thread: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/109/threadid/187947/scope/posts/Default.aspx

You can verify your not in a valid doctype by clicking tools --> page info in Firefox.  It should say "standards compliant", yours says "quirky" which is code for "do whatever you want browser".

Good luck.  I"m still trying to figure out this menu

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your reply. I have been digging around on this and am befuddled. This is the top of my default.aspx file:

<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Explicit="True" Inherits="DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" %>
<%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" Namespace="DotNetNuke.Common.Controls" Assembly="DotNetNuke" %>
<asp:literal id="skinDocType" runat="server"></asp:literal>
<html <%=xmlns%> <%=LanguageCode%>>
<head id="Head" runat="server">
    <meta id="MetaRefresh" runat="Server" http-equiv="Refresh" name="Refresh" />    etc...........

Can you tell me exactly what you think I need to do? I am a dolt on all of this. Exactly what do I need to change and where (file and folder, what text to add/change) to try and see if this doctype issue will solve my nagging wide load issue.

Thanks,

Will

Firefox 3 seems to have fixed this issue. How? I have no idea.
