I am building a skin, and wondering if there any pitfalls to watch out for around IE6 and its non-support for Selectors. Also working on a custom set of font style sheets with Selectors that focus on child / parent relations. In a typical site I would add javascript to code around the issues. Is it possible to use javascript in conjunction with a skin / style sheet to offset the issue or is it better for me to advice my users to upgrade to version 7 which supports the features a bit better?

Thanks for the help

keeperofstars,

You can certainly use javascript in conjunction with your style sheet for your skin. It's really up to your preference and comfort level with doing so.  You can simply reference the javascript in your skin file as needed.  While it might be ideal to ask the users to upgrade to IE7, I doubt that everyone will, and unfortunately we do not generally have the luxury of dictating what browser our users use....so you may just want to suggest they upgrade but use the javascript for IE6 as well.

take care,

Ian

Please note that currently the skin engin will refuse to upload JS files, you can either rename them to .TXT files or add .js files to the trusted file extensions.

Or us FTP...
