Trying to take all css/ templates from a commercial website, (which I am an administrator of) to the latest dnn, which I have at home, the purpose of which is to replicate all styles etc to a dummy DNN which I have running at home so that I can play around with it without breaking the real (live) version.  I have tried taking all files from Portal Root/Templates/******/  which include gif's, css files, aspx files etc when i unzip this group of files into Portal Root/Templates/testnuke/  it tells me that basically cant upload files such as aspx even when logged in as super user (host).  how do I get around this?

You can't export a skin from a portal. You'll need to download the contents of the portal/ID#/skins and portal/ID#/containers folders and copy them to the same place on your other portal. Then apply the skin manually to that portal in Site Settings.

You'll need access to the file system for this.. Admin, File Manager won't do.

Also check the portal.css in case someone has put additional styles in there.
