Does anybody know of a module that would allow users of a particular type/role to upload skins bypassing the admin pages?  Like a creative department that, for some reason, is weary of messing with the admin pages.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Since Skins can contain code that could potetntially harm a site, skin uploads are restricted to administrators.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?

Hey thanks for the response,

I guess this raises another question.  I understand that DNN has reasons behind their current configuration, like security, but does this mean that such a module would be an absolute impossibility?

Thanks

You may want to try setting the IsAdmin field to 0 in the DesktopModules database table for the 'Skins' module.  All of the things under the Admin and Host tab are just modules.  They don't show up as modules in the Host-ModuleDefinitions and Control Panel dropdown because the DesktopModules.IsAdmin value is set to 1.  If you set this to 0, it will allow you to add it to a page not in the Admin or Host tab and control the permissions accordingly.  I'm not positive this will work, but in lue of a 3rd party module to do what your saying (which I don't know of any that exist), it may be worth a try.

jmcwilliam you rock

Your solution works perfectly after setting the skin upload permissions to portal in host settings.

Thanks
