I'm trying to port our current web site to DotNetNuke. My problem is that the current web site is dynamically constructed with lots of client side Javascripts (the scripts build several strings that are sent to the client via document.write() calls). I'd like to "grab" the final HTML of a sample page and use it as a starting point to create a skin for DNN. File->Save As... from IE doesn't help, as it saves a very basic HTML source with just a few <script src=...> tags.

Any idea?

TIA!

If you want to grab someone else's HTML, that's the only choice you have - outside of asking them.

Please note that if you're going to do this, you should really talk to the web administrator of the site. Website designs are covered under intellectual property laws. Just an FYI/CYA.

Michael, if you read my post, you'll notice that I talked about porting OUR web site to DNN. The site I'm trying to grab HTML from is OURS: it was developed by a third-party company but we paid for it, it's hosted on our servers and we have all the source codes.

Unfortunately, we are not happy with the management system they developed (for us) so we'd like to move to DNN. As you can understand, they don't want to help us in moving away from their platform (unless we pay a lot of money, of course). So, I'm looking for a quicker solution than trying to figure out the HTML produced by 30+ (very convoluted) javascripts.

Ha Sorry, must've missed that. I was interrupted when responding and guess I lost my train of thought...

I think it'll be hard for anyone to give you an idea of the best way to do this without seeing something. How are pages and page data managed? Can you create a new page with no content? This might make it easier to create a skin from. If you have a URL, true source, and/or HTML source, any of that would help us in getting you what you need.

The only way I see fit is taking a snapshot and creating the skin using it as a basis.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?
