I am working on my first dnn skin for a client and am having a couple of minor, but annoying issues.

http://morduegreenlight.com/test/

this is the test site. as you can see in IE7, i am getting an odd horizontal rule below the date, this is not supposed to be there and does not show up in Firefox. Also on the sides, where i have the vertical frames, they are acting wierd at the top, different in IE7 and Firefox, but both wierd. Any suggesting on how to clean up the little niggles would be appreciated.

Hi Steve,

You need yourself a copy of the IE developer toolbar!  It's "Find Element by Click" feature makes solving these sorts of issues a breeze.

Using it, it took only a few seconds to notice that it is your background attribute that is causing the black bar problem.  The TD is set to "background: /test/Portals/0/Skins/empad/images/smallgradient.png", and is repeating.  You need a "background-repeat: repeat-x" attribute on this cell.

The wierdo line problem at the tops of your left and right-hand side bars are due to an IMG tag with a background that doesn't align properly with its containing TD background.  Removing it cleaned things up.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Great skin, by the way!

Thanks Brandon, that tool works great, thanks for the help.

Maybe you can answer one other question if you don't mind?

I am using the skinobject css to change the object colors to black, however I still want the Login object to be light grey as it is on a black background bar at the top. I have tried adding a class to it but no luck. Is there a way for different skinobjects to have different attributes?

Hi Steve,

The Login skinobject supports a property titled "CssClass" which you can use to style the text.  If you have existing styles assigned to the "SkinObject" class, make sure to include both classes so that they will carry over (e.g.; <dnn:Login CssClass="Login SkinObject" ... />).

Hope this helps!

Brandon
