I need a skin by the end of April.  I think I could do something with my limited DNN and graphics skills if the users wanted a menu that worked like the one that ships with DNN.  However, they of course do not want that.

I need a skin that has the first level menu across the top.  Then when you click on one of the items, the second tier displays down the left.  When you click on one of those items, the third level would show up down the right.  Then when you click on one of those the fourth and on down continue to display on the right.  Please look at www.pisd.edu (click on for Parents and then Health and Immunizations to see three levels of menu depth... they don't go any deeper I don't think but we will want to).  This is not a DNN site, but this is the navigation organization that the design team where I work wants.

My question is, being new to DNN and .Net in general, is this something that should be fairly "easy" to figure out, or is it pretty complicated and should I hire this out (I worked with VB 6 and ASP, but it's been almost 5 years... I've taken the MS course for ASP.Net)?  I work for education, so the biggest problem is budget.

Thanks for your help!

Sharlyn

Sharlyn,

I you haven't got any budget the best you can do is try to find a skin on www.snowcovered.com that matches your wishes best. Maybe the designer is willing to make small changes for a modest fee.

Allthough skinning the menu requires knowledge of the available properties, I think understanding CSS can be a much bigger challenge (depending where you're coming from).

Good luck.

Hi Peter,

I have looked on SnowCovered and many other sites and have to find a "template' that splits the menu out.  (if you know of one, please post it!! :)

So are you saying that splitting the menu out like this would be controlled by CSS?  I had no idea!  I was thinking it was more to do with the solpartmenu and needing to create a whole new menu control, but I really just don't know what I'm doing from this standpoint.

Thank you for your reply,

Sharlyn

I have a CSS Navmenu that will do what you are looking for.

John,

I went to your link.  I don't see an example of how it splits the menu out into top, left pane, and right pane.  Were you meaning it could do this, or that I would need to make it do this through your css that is already started for me?

Thanks!

Sharlyn
