Well, hoping I can get some help here. If this is not the right forum I apologize but not sure where to ask this.  I'm designing a skin where when you hover over the first menu item, the background changes to orange, the second, the background changes to red, the third, the background changes to green and the fourth, the background changes to yellow.  I have the .gifs of the background colors I need, but just not sure how to go about this since the documentation both online and otherwise simply shows how to change the colors and settings for all of the menu items rather than just one at a time.

I know this will take a bit more coding that normal, but if someone could at least point me in the right direction, that would be helpful.

Thanks, Nate

Mm i dont know if this is possible with the dnn menu but I have done this with the navmenu from http://www.snapsis.com

It allows youto define your own html output using tempaltes so in the tamplate youl could define the id or class of each of the itmes

a href="" class="tabname1"

and then you can style it using

.tabname1{}

.tabname2{}

etc

Hey, thanks for the e-mail.  What I ended up doing was creating a separate html/skin for each page that displayed only that pages desired color in the menu.  It was a ton of duplicated code which is really inefficient, but it's all I could come up with.  I'll look into the options you suggested.

What I don't understand is where is the documentation for the DNN XML stuff.  I can't find it anywhere to know how to code XML elements and attributes in order to get the framework to do what I want it to with the skin.

As you can tell, I'm a relative newb, so even the right direction would be helpful.

The documentation for the XML code is available in the downloadable DNN documentation on this website.  There is a PDF file in there that is all about about Skinning, and it does cover the XML file.
