As the title said, I have a set of CSS-based HTML templates with JQuery menu and toolbox and would like to translate as DNN skins.

I have experienced to use simple table-based template before and even the DNN Skin guide illustrates the table-based templates only.  So I feel a bit skeptical if I'll lose some CSS styles like positioning, background images in elements...

Is there anything I should watch for or any good tips, thanks!

Hi

Any design can be made into a dnn site if you want it. I dont use dnn default menu on my sites but pure jquery based ones.

Just curious if someone can shred some lights how to convert CSS templates to DNN skins properly.

For instance, I notice DNN encloses my template's body with a form element.  As far as I see, that can destroy my CSS layout.....

that should not interfer with your css layout if you style it correctly. I fthe css and html looks ok in as sample page then it wil also look good if used in dnn formtag or not

Well, mine runs perfectly fine in sample page but doesn't render well as DNN skins.  I can pinpoint the cultprit is the inserted form element.  I don't design the template but it's a combination of CSS/JQuery stuff conformed to XHTML 1.0 transitional.  As far as I see, inserting a form element changes the whole DOM hierachy and will break any CSS templates relying on it.  So now we need to deal with this form element.  And that's the sort of things I am expecting to see in the Skinning guide rather than an obsolete table-based sample.
