Hi folks,

I'm trying to upload a new skin to an install of DNN 5 on my server that is perfect in Firefox and IE7 on my local version but IE7 doesn't like it at all on my server whereas Firefox does (suggesting the skin is actually OK).  I've tried reloading it using different names and clearing my cache countless times but IE7 is stubbornly screwing it up.  I'm no novice and this is really hacking me off.  Have I missed something obvious?  Hope so.

Andy.

I've found that people like me better if I treat them to dinner.  Maybe your server could treat IE7 to dinner.

Or...

You could post relevant information that would help someone to help you.

Fair comment I guess.  Maybe I was hoping that my post would've been understood if this was a known occasional quirk - but to add a little clarity then, my new skin looks correct on my local version of DNN and then when I package, upload and install on my remote dedi server it looks wrong in IE7 but fine in Firefox.  By wrong I mean that the main content div is no longer centred, some elements are extending beyond their fixed width and some line heights are way too big.  No code errors, this is formatting voodoo.  Somehow IE7 seems to be seeing (or not seeing) something on the live version that isn't (or is) there.  I've never had this before and I've created plenty of skins so I'm stumped.  Hopefully not a quirky DNN5 'feature'.

Andy.

I'm pleased to say I fixed it.  It turns out that my local version shouldn't have worked at all and the version uploaded to the live server was behaving correctly as per the CSS and HTML - so I tinkered with my CSS.  Don't know what was happening locally to make IE7 behave in a proper CSS compliant way but for a glorious but unhelpful moment in time it seemed to be.

I guess the moral of the story is that if two things aren't behaving the same way when you think all variables are the same, don't be too quick to assume which one is at fault.

Andy.
