I know this is a future look at skinning forum but I have a DNN5 problem and no other forum topic seems to fit - so here goes.

In DNN5 it seems there are some changes to the skinning architecture but I don't see any changes to the skinning documentation.

The problems i'm experiencing are:

  • Menu icons are not showing up even though i have a skin.xml attributes file that states icons should not be pulled from the skin folder.
  • Content Pane settings are not being honored. I had to manually edit the .ascx file that dnn generates in order to view any content - I kept getting the error "ContentPane" id already exists (or something like that) I have a very simple skin with a [CONTENTPANE] and [CONTENTPANE:1] attributes. The associated skin.xml file has ID settings for both content panes.

Is this a problem with my install or is this a bug in DNN5? I upgraded from DNN 4.8 (which does not have these issues).

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Moved over to the Skinning forum.

Regarding your issues:

  • check out the generated ascx files and source code of the output page, what happened to the icons, how the paths are resolved.
  • DNN 5.0.0 is context sensitive regarding pane names "ContentPane", this will be rolled back in DNN 5.0.1 AFAIK.

your first problem is as expected , if you set the icons not to show, they don't

Thanks for the reply - My contentpane problem was as suggested - case sensitivity.  My menu icon problem is still a problem.  I can't figure out how to make the icons appear!   Using an exising skin - the icons work fine under DNN 4.8 but the link is incorrect for the icons under DNN 5.0.  I'm sure i'm doing something wrong - i just don't know what.  I would like the skin to use the icons from the base location - not the skin location.  I was under the impression that the "usesskinpatharrowimages" attribute determined if the icon images were pulled from the base images folder or from the skin folder.

Thanks
