There are two parts to my issue here. First I don't want the root menu to indicate children but I do want the submenu levels to indicate children.

I was thinking of just changing the menu_down.gif to be transparent/blank (and edit the breadcrumb.gif too) but I don't want other portals to be affected that may use this.

Is there a way to indicate children of menu sub-levels only?

Can the IndicateChildren images (menu_down.gif and breadcrumb.gif) both be redirected to another image file?

Hi,

This is an interesting query and provided a good bit of discussion on Twitter.

I'm taking it that you're using DNN5 btw, because the [NAV] renders differently for previous versions.

You'll find the DNN skin object doc here, which was my reference for the solution: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Development.... The settings you're looking for are IndicateChildImageRoot and IndicateChildImageSub which you'll need to add to your skin.xml file indicating which images you're using.

I think your idea of using a transparent image for the root item is the one to go down. when you indicate child items the images are applead inline as a background image for the root item like so: background-image: url("/dotnetnuke/images/menu_down.gif"); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: right center; you can't override this because it's inline, but if you make the image transparent it then won't be visible.

Then either leave the sub menu arrow the same or allocate your own image.

I've tested this out and it works, but please let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Rick.
