After a year of using the treeview menu I'm thinking its not really working out. I think its causing the bulk of my remaining page load times (I've been through performance tweaking a ton already). We run 4.8.3 and have about 1300 pages (all visible in the treeview on every page). We really like it because its a core nav option, its self managed (we don't have to add/ change pages/ links), and it allows navigation to any part of the site from any other part.

I guess my questions are; 1 is the treeview menu a probable source of lag with that many pages? 2 How do other big sites overcome this issue? Do you use dnn menu or just not display all the pages of the site?

I'm just trying to get the TreeView menu to simply work. Might you provide a poor soul like me an example skin set that works?

Tried to get TreeView working in DNN v4.9.4 and v5.01.00.  Doesn't show up in v4.9.4 and I get this error in v5.1.0:

 

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Controls.TreeViewMenu.BuildTree(DNNNode objNode, Boolean blnPODRequest) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Controls.TreeViewMenu.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
