Folks,

If I select no registration page in admin site settings, I return to the page I started from after registration.  But if I create a custom page for registration and select it in admin settings, after registration I'm dropped on the profile page, not the page I started from, even though the ReturnUrl seems to be set properly.  Is this a known bug?  Is there a workaround?

You can see this in action at: http://simsbeta.com/RegistrationSettings/tabid/148/Default.aspx

Thanks!

Bump.

Note this issue only occurs if you set a registration page in portal settings.  When you register from home page, you get:

home page -> registration form -> user profile.

I want:

home page -> registration form -> home page.

Is there a workaround, or do I have to use the default registration behavior, which gives me few skinning options?

Hi Aldeng

What version of DNN are you using..?

I created a test account (username testaccount) - you can delete it.  It does as you say...  Redirects to the user account management page and not your specified URL.  I'm not sure if this is how its meant to work.  I've tested on my own site (with no custom redirect specified, i.e. default), and I get redirected to the page I was on...  Is the page you specified visible to all users...?

Thanks Jon.

I'm on DNN 5.1.

And if I don't specify a custom registration page, it DOES work.  Is this a known bug in DNN5.1?  Or is this the expected behavior for a custom registration page?  If so, it's a bummer.  The whole point of a custom page to me is the ability to control the skin of it, rather than have it just drop the registration form into the content pane of whatever page you're on, which doesn't work in my skin.

Thanks for your response, Jon.  Just looking to see if this is something I should submit to the bug tracker, or if it's something I'm doing wrong.

Hi

I tested on a DNN5.0 installation.

I have also just tested the custom page and when I set the custom page, it works (i.e. browser redirects to my custom page).

  1. I logged in as a host (not sure on your role level)
  2. In DNN 5.0, in the Control Panel, click on "Users".
  3. Next, in the user list display, click on "User Settings"
  4. In the User Settings Dialogue, you should see 3 redirect options in the "User Accounts Settings" section:
    1. Redirect After Login
    2. Redirect After Logout
    3. Redirect After Registration
  5. Each one does exactly as you specifiy.  Double check that you set a redirect for "Redirect After Registration" and not one of the others.

Other than that, it could be an issue in 5.1 - I wouldn't know though.  Only use 5 on my own site, else I use 4.9.2 for my production sites.  Sorry can't be of more help. Perhaps Timo or Sebastian will have answers.

Jon
