Hello All! I'm trying to create my first skin ever. I have been working with DNN for years now but have never created a skin. The skin is going to be for a DNN 5 site. My question should be very simple for skinning experts. Basically, I have a design created in photoshop. I want this design to stretch across the full width of the users browser regardless of resolution (so if my image is 100px by 100px I want it to "stretch"). I have tried to look at the full width skin that comes with DNN to get an idea but I do not understand how it works. Can someone please help me!

You can use the CSS option to repeat the image.

There's also a difference between repeating and stretching.  A repeat needs an image that blends to itself seamlessly, the equivalent of tiling.  What I do with images that have to "stretch" is ensure they belnd to a solid background color at one or both ends, set the background color of the <div> or whatever to the same color and then use a right/left/center alignment as appropriate.

Pretty much what Jeff said.  There are hacks out there to allow for stretching backgrounds, however that will also cause you headaches with cross-browser compatibility, maintaing the site with updates, and there's no telling what DNN scripts/code it will stomp on trying to acheive the effect. There is some discussion of tricks here but I can't say how well this would work with DNN.

It does look like there's hope on the horizon with CSS3, however that's a long way off from being 'standard enough' to be relevant right now (according to the article, no browsers currently support the required properties that may have changed with current releases of Opera and FF but there are more annoying browsers to worry about too).

Thanks Jeff! I did figure out this approach.

One other question. I have my skin working now but sometimes when i go to different pages the images do not display, the background color is the only thing that is shown. If I refresh my page then the images appear? Any thoughts? I cannot figure this out!!!!
