Greetings,

How do you create Skins from scratch?

In the Quick Administration Guide, I have read how to make use of Skins, setting permissions, and more, but how do I create my own custom Skins? Have I overlooked something here?

I want to create my own Skins with their own artwork and functionality.

Thanks,

Steven

Right click on Project in Solution Explorer ( in VS) . -> Add -> New item - > Skin file .

Depending on what control your creating a skin for, u write your code..

Heres an example for a panel

 <asp:Panel runat="server" SkinId="AstarsPanel" Font-Names="Arial" BackColor="White" Height="100%"/>

 And in your code where u want to use this skin, u refer to it as follows:

<asp:Panel ID="pnlMainHolder" runat="server" SkinID="AstarsPanel" GroupingText="PanelABC">

Hope its clear..

Get a copy of the book by Andrew Hay and Shaun Walker.

Subscribe to DNNCreative Magazine.

Look for Cuong Dang's material -- is there a little booklet, too?

Start with a good skin and modify it.  "Most" skin designs will use similar layouts, so most of the work will be related to the CSS file(s).
