 I did some research around the net for a DNN skin I am working on for a client.
I am updating the current skin to a much more streamlined and content-oriented version.

For this skin I am implementing element hover properties.

There isn't a lot of information for those who have wanted to do what I have done and I thought it would be nice to share my success.

Problem:
Implement pure CSS :hover for IE browsers

Solution:

  • Download the whatever:hover file from peterned (a google search for whatever:hover)
  • Name it whatever you want
  • Place it in the DNN_ROOT/js folder or any other folder in the root DNN install path that is accessible by direct URL
  • In the site root Default.aspx add the following code:
    <!--[if IE]>
    <style>
    body { behavior:url(http://www.mywebsiteaddress.com/js/csshover3.htc); }
    </style>
    <![endif]-->
  • Setup your CSS hover menus
  • Test in IE

That took a bit of research I hope it helps someone.

I would an XHTML doctype and use the js if IE < 7, since in that case only IE 6 does not support hover on non link elements.
