I have two basic questions here. I'm using the default DNN-Gray skin with the site navigation set to verticle.

Question #1: Can anyone tell me of a way that I can easily change the verticle treeview control in the site navigation module to a verticle menu control with flyout menus?

Question #2: In the header area where the logo is I have placed my own logo. I would like to now place an animated gife on top of my logo in a precise location. Can you tell me how this can be done?

I'm using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express with MS SQL Server 2005 Express and I installed the DNN starter kit.

Any help with this would GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks, Don

The Tree control menu is in fact what it is - It doesn't provide fly out menu options - it's methodology and behaviour are different to the Solpart Menu.

But you can easily create a flyout menu using Solpart by adding this to the skinning code - <dnn:MENU runat="server" id="dnnMENU" Display="Vertical" /> or <dnn:SOLPARTMENU runat="server" id="dnnSOLPARTMENU" Display="Vertical" /> (depending on what verison of DNN you're running.

Question 2 - Can't you just replace your logo with the animated gif?  I'm not sure what the problem is - all you need to do change logos is go to admin/settings - and pick the animated gif, or upload it from your local computer to the server and then select it.

If you want it to appear all the time - you can also add as an image in the skin - so going to appear automatically.

I'm not sure how this influences the VWD you're using, for skinning I certainly don't recommend that application since I feel it's a developer tool rather than a designer tool, but you can place the code in there using VWD or even notepad.

You helped me figure out that I didn't register the solpart menu control. Thanks! I figured out the gif positioning question. I do have a few more questions.

I'm using the lastest version of DNN 4.0.3 and I have both menu options available dnnMenu and dnnSolpartmenu. Is one recommended over the other..easier to use...more versitile...ect...? I'm not exactly sure what the difference is between these 2 controls. Which one is newer?

Thanks for your help!

Don

It's the same skin object. just two ways to call it in the XML. I believe the purpose is to allow two menu systems.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?
