Hello,

First of all, greetings to all of you. I'm new here in this community and completely novice in DNN. :)
I want to create a website powered by DNN. I finished the hardest part (designing and coding), but now I want to implement it in DNN 5.

I watched and read some tutorials about how to create your first basic skin in DNN and I managed to implement my layout into a new skin I created. Basically I created a new folder in the Skins folder and I created a skin.html file with my XHTML/CSS code.

You can watch the coded version of the website here: http://alin.serverroom.us/mydesigns/tenstep/

Well, I noticed that there are some variables like [MENU], [LOGIN] and when I put them, it shows the menu and the login form generated by DNN. I need to customize the menu and the login form because I have my own CSS classes and my own XHTML Structure. For instance, the dnn generated MENU is created using HTML table tags but in my layout I have listed-based menu with <ul> and <li> tags. Where can I modify the HTML Source of the MENU and where can I customize the Login form?

I hope I was explicit enough. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
I can't wait to hear your replies.

Thank you in advance for your support.
With respect,
Alin B.

Alin,

Welcome to the DNN forums.

To create a list based menu, have a look at the examples provided by timo (http://dnnskinextensions.codeplex.com/) Looking at the source code of the files is the best way to learn how to do this. Once you've implemented the settings to get the NAV to render as a list you'll be able to use your own CSS.

Regarding the login link, you can assign a class to this through the skin.xml file. Have a look at the MinimalExtropy skin that comes with DNN, it comtains all the files and is a great reference for things like this.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

Regards,

Rick.
