I'm having an issue trying to get the navigation menu centered correctly.

Here are the specs:
  1. The page container is 1000px in width.
  2. The navigation is within a div within my skin.
  3. The div is setup within css for a width of 100%.  There's padding left and right of 40px because of the backgrounds.
  4. The items within the navigation have a width setup of 105px.  They also have padding of 5px all around them; so they look centered within the background image.
  5. Within Chrome, Firefox and Opera, this configuration looks like all the items in the nav are centered.
  6. Within IE8, there's a noticeable gap on the right side; like it isn't centered.
How do I get the navigation centered?

Also, if I adjust the width of the items to anything greater than 105px, it'll become more centered in IE, but in the other browsers, the items jump down to a new line and don't look correct.

I just brought the site up in Firefox and now firefox is listing the navigation as ul/li list instead of actual navigation.

Any ideas why?  All other browsers display correctly..  UGH..
