DNN Genii,

We just upgraded to 5.5 from 4.9 and kept our old (Minimalist --unsupported) skin. The new build really makes the site look better -- even with the old skin.

The question is since Minimalist uses solpart menu we need to change the menu however other than that is there a reason to change out the skin completely. My concern is that changing the skin will, undoubtedly, involve a lot of playing around with text and graphics. We we are satisfied with the look of our existing site.

What should we expect in terms of time would it take for a skin/design expert to just change the menu?

Thanks in advance

Hi, this situation is exactly what I wrote my menu provider to address. See here: http://www.dnngarden.com/Standard-DNN...

Cool. Non-programmer Relic around from DOS days here, though. If this were your production site what steps would you take? Thanks in advance

Basically the steps it suggests on that page! That is, install DDRMenu and change the menu declaration in your skin's ASCX file(s) to reference DDRMenu instead of Solpart. If you're not confident doing that, it should only take 5-10 minutes for somebody who knows what they're doing.

Were you able to get this working on your own or do you need help? I'm available to help, can help with the DDRMenu setup or using the core DNN NavMenu. Feel free to email me direct at rick@dnnstyle.com if you need help with this. I would definitely test it on a development server before applying to the main website no matter how you do it or who does it.
