Hello, I need to hide the Login menu and I know that I need to edit the skin but I don't know to edit the skin.

Can tell me how edit the skin in order to hide the Login menu ? I use the default skin of DNN 5.05

Thanks.

First copy the skin.
(copy the /Portals/_Default/Skins/Minimal Extropy folder)
Call the folder "My Minimal Extropy" for example

Now use that skin, as the default skin might get overwritten on upgrade and you would loose your changes.
Browse to the new folder and remove all the HTM files.
Open the ASCX file with a text editor and look for this: <dnn:LOGIN... > and remove it.

The file I need to delete (HTM files) are the .html files ?

The file I need to open the ascx file need to be copied on my local pc before to modify it ?

Yes, you should copy the files to your local machine (unless you have remote access to the server).
The HTML files should be deleted because if you don't and you parse the skin later you will loose your changes.
(Parsing is converting an HTML file to an ASCX file, the ASCX file is the actual skin, the HTML file is like a template for the skin)

You can also edit the HTML files but then you would have to parse them to an ASCX file for every change you make.
Editing the ASCX files is easier IMO.

If you were familiar enough with the skin and the css, you might be able to just edit the skin.css and set the login class to "display: none" and not have to worry about messing with the html and ascx. But, that would also require that the skin was coded properly to allow for that. I generally have a wrapper class that could be set to display none, but not everyone does that. You could also "attack" the css for the login font itself as long as the login text has its own css class, and again not every skin will be set up that way.
