I have read numerous articles on tableless designs and DNNemptypane.  I have created a tableless design that is working but i cannot get the right pane to disappear using DNNEmptyPane in CSS.  I have applied the css to the bottom the skin file, to the portal.css file, other css files and they all make the same changes but in the environment, you still see a gap where the right pane was.  If i use display:none the words right pane totally go away but still the gap.

Here is a link to a test site:

If you need me to attach the actual html or css files, please let me know.  I have been working on this for over a week and i am just totally stumped.

Eric,

I think this depends on how you're building the pane layout, div based layouts aren't as fluid as table based ones, where the remaining table cells expand to fill the space left. Instead if you've set widths on the divs they will keep this width irrelevant of whether neighboring Panes are there or not.

You can see if the DNNEmptyPane class is working by using Firebug (www.getfirebug.com) to select elements of the layout and see what CSS is being applied to them.

Regards,

Rick.

Eric,

Not long after replying to this post I came across this blog entry by Chris Hammond: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/B... I think it may help with your layout.

Regards,

Rick.
