I have a DNN site (running 5.5.1) where I have to load some content dynamically with a different stylesheet than the skin or other parts of the site. To accomodate this, I created an extremely simple container (basically just the necessary references and the content pane) and a container.css file with the relevant CSS and uploaded it to the site. I explicitly set that container for the module into which the content is being loaded, and as long as I view it while logged in as the superuser, everything works fine... the container.css file is loaded and overrides the skin and the content displays as it should.

If I log in as a normal user, however, the CSS from container.css is not being applied to the content. In fact, if I look at the source, there isn't even a reference to container.css. I cannot figure out why this would be.

Can anyone tell me if there are circumstances in which the container.css file could be loaded and applied for one user but not another? I can't see anywhere that there are permissions that would apply... the module level permissions aren't that granular, it's either displayed or not. At the file level, I don't know how the web server would know what sort of DNN user is logged in or not (and in any event, I checked and the file is supposed to be world readable).

If anyone could shed some light on why this might be happening I would appreciate it. It's my first foray into skinning so I probably did something wrong but can't think where to begin.

Sorry, I should also have clarified: the CSS is loaded for EITHER the admin or the superuser, but no one in any other security role. Also, yes, I've flushed my cache, tried other browsers, etc, etc. Thanks.

Here's a guess.  Check where you made the setting for the skin to be used by the module.

From memory there are two slots there.  One for users who can edit and one for everyone else.

Did you get the right one?

Best wishes,

does the module for the container have any content in it? If not it might not be shown if your not in edit mode

Richard: perhaps I am setting it in the wrong place, then, because I only have the one option. In the module options, I go to Page Settings, Basic Settings, and set the Module Container to the one that I uploaded. Is there a different place I should be setting this for it to apply to all users?

Timo, the content is loaded dynamically. When I am checking whether or not the CSS file has been loaded or applied, there is definitely content in the module.
