I am having a problem finding a navigation that will allow me to have a root or level 1 image menu that does not show the sub-menu child pages when you hover over the images. This happens when you use text too.

Basically I would like the user to click on the image menu then go to the page with a horizontal menu showing the child page links.

Does anyone know how to remedy this with the DNN menu that comes with DNN or can anyone suggest any navigation modules that this is possible?

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Gayle,

What you're trying to do can be achieved through a mix of skin and DNN page settings. From a skinning point of view you can render the nav as a list and then use CSS to apply a background image to the menu items and hide the text. Loom at these examples by Timo on how to render the menu as a UL (http://dnnskinextensions.codeplex.com...). To get the sub menus to not show, within the page setting there's the option to "Show in menu" uncheck this for the sub menu pages and they'll not be included. For the horizontal menu, you can then use another instance of the nav skin object to render only child pages (there's an example of this in the samples from Timo as well).

Hope this helps,

Rick.

Thanks Rick for the help. I will try this on Monday. I found the link you referenced last night in a long thread about DNN Navigation and made a note to check it out. You have confirmed that I am on the right track. I will respond back when I get the menu working. Hopefully this will help other newbies.

Gayle
