Can I just modify the DNN6.0 Dark Knight skin without worrying about changes being overwritten by future upgrades or should I copy and create a new skin to modify?

If I need to copy the skin can I just FTP all the files to a folder with a new name or do I have to modify the manifest file, zip them up and install through the extensions page?

Thanks.

Rich

I would suggest copying the skin and modifying that. And, yes, just copy the folder with the skin and rename. DNN will pick it up as long as it has the proper folder structure and an ascx file in it.

Hi, I have just started with DNN 6 and love the Dark Knight Skin - thanks guys.
I did a little work with DNN 5 a couple of years ago but now am really back to total beginner again - so sorry for this very stupid error. Anyway, here it is, I went into Edit of the Social module and could see spaces before the text, so I deleted the spaces and when I saved, the social icons had disappeared! I know now that I should have checked out the HTML to see what was actually there! Have I deleted just the icons (btw i cannot find them in the images folder) or have I deleted some code also?
thanks in advance for your help
