fwiw - if you want to remove the login link entirely.

You can provide admins with a direct link to the login module http://www.yoursite.com/login.aspx
and tell them to put it in their bookmarks.

If I'm corect , you can login and search are dnn tokens are they are produced at the creation of the ascx file. you can modify the html file, by deleting or commeting the lines in which the login and serach token are specified.
for login
for search

Once again, I'm not very good with dnn but I had a hard time customizing a dnn instance and after I bought 2 books from amazon I started to figured it out.

I removed the search icon by updating the search.ascx file in ~/admin/skins. Commenting the div that produces it. div id="SearchIcon"

@Greg, that's not the way to remove the search..
This way on the the next upgrade of DNN it will show up again, you are changing the core, which is never a good idea.
Find the ascx file of the skin you use  and remove the link ot the search skin object there.
But you should also not do this in the default skin which get's upgraded also, but on a copy of the default skin.

Any help in 'removing' the Search Box would be great.

it's easy to remove the Login and Register by editing the .aspx file for the skin being used, but doing the same for the Search Box messes up my site

I don't want to simply remove the Web or Site options, I want to remove the Search altogether
