In ADMIN | SITE SETTINGS | APPEARANCE

In that section, SITE SKIN, SITE CONTAINER, EDIT SKIN and EDIT CONTAINER, it has a listing of skins and containers which I know doesn't exits in my portal directories under _Default\Containers and _Defaualt\Skins.  I deleted the respective directories but its still listed previousle.

 I am using DNN 6.1.5

How do I remove these listings?

Hello,

DotNetNuke tracks skins as installed components. To get rid of them, you need to uninstall them. This is done in the hosts' extensions area.

Deleting the directory is perhaps a little analogous to deleting a folder from your program files directory in windows. You might have deleted it, but things in windows will still assume its there, and this could cause errors. So, you use the uninstaller to make sure they're properly removed.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Hi Mike and all,  thanks for your reply.

I did go to HOST | EXTENSIONS and went through the CONTAINERS and SKINS area for UNINSTALL but still having them appear in ADMIN SITE SETTING and ADMIN | SKIN areas.

Chuck, if the installer failed to remove the skin folder upon uninstall, you may remove it manually from /portals/_default/skins folder (or /portals/_default/containers)

Cheers from Germany,
