I have noticed that in IE (versions 7 and 9 for sure, unconfirmed in 8) that when you hover to display the Standard Menu sub-menus, it will display the submenu, but then go away if your mouse pointer happens to trigger some content behind the submenu.  

For instance, I have a title image located below my menu and if I activate the submenu, and work my way down the list with the mouse and pause for a second (while still over the submenu) where there is content behind, the hovered submenu will go away unprovoked.

This does NOT happen in FF or Chrome.  Only in IE.  Go figure.
