I installed a legacy skin in DNN 6.2.2. It shows up in the host and admin list of skins. However when I wanted to change the skin of a page, it's not in the page's settings skin list. I am logged in as host.

 What might cause this issue?

Was the skin installed at the site or host level? If at the site, then it will only be accessible in the site that it was installed.

It was installed at the host level. I also tried site level. There are no extra sites/portals. I am using the default DNN setup right after a new DNN 6.2.2 installation.

I tried another skin and it worked. The legacy one is the one that had a screen during installation where I had to tell it what extension it is: 'skin' or 'container' or 'not a skin/container'.

Pretty sad that 4 years later and now in Version 7, this problem still exists (I have the same issue), and I found this thread with no answer!

I came up with a workaround to get it to work:

  1. In Host > Extensions, expand the Skins section.
  2. Choose to Edit the skin in question.
  3. Increment the skin's version.
  4. Choose to Build a New Package, and complete the process.
  5. Back in the Skins section, DELETE the skin.
  6. Run the Extensions wizard, and re-install the skin from the package ZIP created by step 4.
  7. Go to Host > Host Settings. Clear the cache and restart the Application.
  8. Go to Site Settings, and the skin should now appear in the list.
